It is...so...UNGODLY HOT here. Temperatures have been 100F+ pretty consistently and it's MISERABLE! One good (but not really) thing I've learned is that oven-bake clay turns soft in heat, even after baking it. I almost had a full-on crash out because my assignment literally broke in half right after I finished taking the needed pictures. I was able to glue it back together once I brought it inside to cool off, so it wasn't TOO bad, but it sucked in the moment. Here's the assignment in 4question. What is it supposed to be? No clue to be

honest. The assignment was to sculpt something that

represented the artistic principle of rhythm and this

is what I got. I do like how it looks like it's hardcore

sideeyeing the viewer despite being faceless. It's

pretty funny.

Next term I start my Technical Studio class, which

means I'll actually get to the sewing stuff. I'm really

excited (and a bit scared of the large, loud industrial

sewing machine I'll be expected to use.) That starts in

September, so it's a kinda far away, but I'm ready for it!

Anyway, I'm gonna go start some LOONG overdue cleaning.

My original blog draft got yeeted by lurk and I don't feel like trying to remember and retype it, so we're gonna pivot in an on-theme fashion. For a long time, I was very rigid in my ideas and would become inconsolable if they had to change for any reason. I wanted everything to go exactly how it did in my head, and if it didn't, my whole world came crashing down. I've slowly learned to get over this, realizing that the ability to adapt would only strengthen my creative process. I'm nowhere near perfect, but I've come a long way in managing my emotions and redirecting.

So, if you're ever upset by something not working how you want it to, just remember: Your life will evolve, Your work will evolve. YOU will evolve. VERY short post this week... but technically if you count the yeeted draft I wrote like twice this much lol. Bye for now!

Still not much to report. I've gotten pretty settled in, though my stuff is still kinda all over the place. I got my cat one of those litter robot automatic litter boxes, and it's honestly such a game changer. I always struggled to keep scooping the litter a consistent part of my schedule, but now I just have to make sure there's enough litter and empty out a tray once a week or so. all my friends and I call him Beebis.

I also don't have much art related stuff to share, my

classes aren't really drawing heavy right now and my

craft room is nowhere near organized enough to do stuff

in. However, I do have one little drawing to share from

my Sustainable Fashion course:











The looks themselves are pretty basic, the

main thing was the textiles being used. One

really cool one I found during my research

is called Shiringa Bio-leather. It's a woven

cotton fabric coated in natural latex

harvested regeneratively by the Ajuwan people of The Amazon. It's naturally water-repellant, biodegradable, and overall just a really cool fabric. I really like how the production of Shiringa helps provide jobs for Indigenous communities and keep the ecosystem safe.

I also wonder why we don't utilize hemp fiber in textiles more when its better than cotton in pretty much EVERY WAY! (well I KNOW why, I just think it's dumb.) We're sitting here refusing to better our agricultural practices all because "ooga booga drugs bad." Mind you:

1: Weed is nowhere near harmful enough to warrent this fuckass behaviour

2: Industrial hemp doesn't even have enough THC to get high off of! It literally has 0.03% or less by volume.

This blog post is VERY late, lol. Sorry about that. Nothing much to report art wise, but we moved to a new house this week! It's nice, and has enough rooms that I can have my own craft room even with my grandma moving in with us. The house was built in the 70s, so some of its features are...interesting...but hey if it works, it works. I still have to move my posters from the old house, but other than that I'm mostly settled in.

I wish I had more to talk about, but that's all I've got. I'll keep y'all updated on the house. Bye for now!
